The Invisible made Visible

Along with the inauguration of the exhibition “Hilma af Klint : Paintings for the Future” at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (October 12 2018 – April 23 2019) Johan af Klint and Hedvig Ersman wrote an article about the religious aspects of the abstract paintings by Hilma af Klint.

An edited version of the article was published on the website of the Guggenheim with the title “Inspiration and Influence: The Spiritual Journey of Artist Hilma af Klint”.

Johan af Klint is the grand nephew of the artist, and executive director of the Foundation Hilma af Klint; Hedvig Ersman is in charge of the communication and PR of the Foundation and its digital archive.

Hilma af Klint was an artist, and also a devoted spiritual seeker. The article focuses on the spiritual and religious aspects which founded the artistic creation by Hilma af Klint : Christianity, spiritualism, the Rosicrucian theology, Theosophy and later Anthroposophy.

The article was written in English, and published on October 11 2018.
